January 3 to 7, 2022: 5 Efficient Recipes to Keep Things Simple This Week

It’s a new year, and after a holiday season spent practically chained to the oven, you want to keep things simple this week! The recipes below are quick and efficient, perfect for when you want to be lazy and take a few shortcuts in the kitchen.

Monday: Kitchen Sink Green Vegetable Soup

What could be more efficient than using frozen peas and wilted greens that are sitting in your fridge? It’s the first Monday of the new year, after all, so we’re all looking to put the least amount of effort into today’s meal as humanly possible.

Tuesday: Saltine Cracker Pork Tonkatsu Bowls

We love recipes that look fancy and as if they took forever to make, but are really effortless. Take these breaded pork cutlets, served with rice and pickled veggies. Simple and delicious, they’re also made using low-cost saltine crackers. Dinnertime win!

Wednesday: Warm Tuna and Broccoli Pasta Salad

Box of pasta? Check. Cans of tuna? Check. A filling dinner idea that’s on the table in under 45 minutes? Check! We love it when a meal comes together after a quick raid of the pantry.

Thursday: Beef and Squash Fried Rice

Fried rice is the ideal recipe when you’re looking for something that’s cheap, requires little prep time, but is still packed with flavour. The turmeric, curry powder and soy sauce definitely perk up the rice and the flavours pair beautifully with the squash.

Friday: Honey-Roasted Orange Chicken

Time and time again, our trusty baking sheet comes to the rescue when we’re looking for a no-fuss dinner idea. All this gorgeous chicken dish requires is placing your poultry, potatoes and orange slices on the pan, brushing them with honey and sambal oelek, and baking. Serve with a side of sautéed kale, and you’ve got the perfect meal!
