Ingredients
Oatmeal Crisp
Apple Filling
Preparation
- With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F). Butter a 20-cm (8-inch) square baking dish and line it with a strip of parchment paper, letting it hang over each side.
Oatmeal Crisp
- In a bowl, combine the oats, flour, and brown sugar. Add the butter and maple syrup. Combine with a wooden spoon. Put the bowl aside.
Apple Filling
- In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Add the applesauce and bring to a boil, stirring with a whisk. Place the pan aside.
- Spread half the crisp in the baking dish and press lightly. Spread the apple filling on the crisp. Gently sprinkle with the remaining crisp.
- Bake for about 45 minutes or until the crisp is golden brown. Serve warm or cold. Cut into squares. Delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
