1. In the pantry
- Chicken and beef broth in a Tetra Pak (for a soup, risotto or sauce)
- Canned diced or whole tomatoes (for a homemade pasta sauce or to use in a soup)
- Canned legumes (white kidney beans, for a salad or even a soup)
- Pasta and rice
- Quality oils and vinegars
- Canned beans with pork
- Chocolate
- Honey
- Garlic and onions
- Canned fruit and fruit cups (cherries, pineapple, mandarins, etc., for a last-minute dessert!)
- Nuts and peanuts
- Chocolate chips
- Molasses
- Cocoa
- Potatoes
- Canned fish (tuna, salmon…)
- Olives
- Salsa
- Flour
- Brown sugar
2. In the refrigerator
- Carrots and celery
- 35% cream (the perfect finishing touch for a sauce or soup)
- Lemons and limes
- Cheddar cheese
- Peanut butter
- Asian sauces (soy, hoisin, sambal oelek)
- Parmesan cheese block (or grated in the freezer)
- Eggs (for an empty-the-fridge omelette)
- Yogurt
- Apples
- Dry sausage
- Milk
- Peppers
- Dijon mustard and mayonnaise
- Butter
3. In the freezer
- Ripe bananas
- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Bag of peeled and deveined shrimp
- Stuffed pasta (e.g., ravioli)
- Bread
- Vacuum-sealed white fish fillets
- Frozen vegetables (green peas and others)
- Wrapped pork tenderloin
- Various sausages (mild or spicy Italian, Toulouse, etc.)
