A Practical Guide to the RICARDO Air Fryer

Among the essential allies in modern kitchens, the air fryer has certainly earned its spot on our counters! This small appliance not only allows you to cook dishes quickly and easily, but to also use electricity more efficiently on a daily basis. Check out our guide on how to make the most out of your new energy-efficient appliance.

What is it?

An effective mini convection oven that cooks and roasts foods fast.

How does it work?

Place your food in the cooking basket, which you then place in the machine. The air fryer uses a convection cooking method, which is similar to a regular oven; a fan evenly circulates hot air around the food to cook it.

The cooking tray elevates the food in the basket so that the air can pass under and around for crispy and uniform results every time, using little to no oil. For safety reasons, it is recommended to not place the machine near a window or underneath a cabinet.

All about the digital control panel

  • You’ll find pre-programmed functions for specific foods like fries, bacon, whole chicken, and even shrimp and vegetables.
  • You can also cook using the manual mode with desired temperature and cooking time settings.
  • The built-in preheat function is fast. You can choose to use it or not, depending on the recipe.
  • Certain pre-programmed functions include an indicator light as a reminder to shake or turn food halfway through cooking.
  • You can modify or cancel the selected temperature and cooking time at any time.

It’s not only for “fried” foods!

The air fryer is great at cooking foods that would normally require a traditional deep fryer, like fries or chicken wings. But you can also use it to roast foods like root vegetables, chicken breast and salmon, or even bake quick desserts.

Extremely versatile

Not only can the air fryer cook foods and keep them warm, it can also:

  • reheat leftovers (it’s the best way to warm last night’s pizza!);
  • defrost a meal;
  • dehydrate fruit (you can even make jerky);
  • roast nuts.
Its five benefits
  • 1. It cooks food faster than a traditional oven, sometimes in half the time;
  • 2. Its size is perfect for one or two people, or a small family;
  • 3. It requires little to no cooking oil;
  • 4. It’s easy to use and maintain;
  • 5. It’s energy efficient.

A selection of practical accessories

Sold separately at our stores and online, our accessories make cooking and cleanup easy.

  1.  Disposable parchment paper makes basket cleanup simple. You can also place it in the compost bin after use.
  2.  The silicone baking mat comes in handy to protect the baking tray. The perforations help air circulate to ensure a crispy texture every time.
  3.  The silicone cooking basket is perfect for reheating saucy dishes, keeping them from sticking.

Why is the air fryer so energy efficient?

  • • It’s among a range of small appliances that use little electricity, like the slow cooker. It even uses less power than a microwave.
  • • Compared to the traditional oven, it allows you to consume energy more responsibly. The air fryer can save up to 80% of electricity in similar cooking tasks.
  • • It requires less preheating time than your regular oven. Depending on the brand, it’s usually ready to use in three minutes or less.
  • • For a majority of recipes, cooking time is reduced by 20% when compared to the oven.

By adopting simple changes in the kitchen (such as using small appliances instead of the oven as often as possible!), you’ll quickly develop habits to reduce your energy consumption and lower your electric bill. They can be rather useful or simply be a way to do your part in winter during peak hours when the grid is under great pressure. All you have to do is make the air fryer your daily kitchen ally.
