How to Use Leftover Cheese Fondue

Cheese fondue is the ultimate dish to enjoy among friends after a winter’s day spent playing outside. But is there some left at the end of the meal? Instead of saying goodbye to all those delicious cheese remnants, try using them in a few other ways. Here are some suggestions for making use of these leftovers.

1. In an omelette

If your cheese has cooled, cut it into pieces to garnish an omelette rather than having to grate another cheese. It’s a delicious and practical solution!

2. In a dip

Once reheated, the cheese makes for a tasty dipping sauce for oven-baked fries or cooked veggies like broccoli or cauliflower. Heat it gently in the microwave a few seconds at a time, and stir to keep the mixture from separating.

3. As a salad topper

You can take the crust of a cooled cheese, cut it into pieces and enjoy them in a salad like you would croutons. The cheese remains crispy and its flavour is concentrated.

4. On an open-faced sandwich

Leftover fondue cheese can also make an excellent next-day lunch. The proof is in this croque monsieur-inspired open-faced sandwich. With this recipe, your excess cheese fondue will never see the bottom of a compost bin again!
