- In a skillet, bring the brown sugar, water and butter to a boil while stirring. Let boil over high heat for 5 minutes.
- Add the bananas and continue cooking until the syrup starts to caramelize, spooning syrup over the bananas several times. (Don’t let the syrup get too thick.)
- 3 Add the rum and flambé, if desired. Add the vanilla and nutmeg, to taste.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
