Butterscotch Taffy on Snow

  1. In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, scotch, butter, and salt.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the mixture begins to lightly brown. Add the water. Attach a candy thermometer in the centre of the pan and simmer over medium heat until the thermometer reads 118 °C (245 °F). Remove from the heat.
  3. Pour in a stream over the snow and gather with a wooden stick to eat. 



Note

You can easily double this recipe, however, the cooking time will increase.
The taffy can be kept for several months in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
