Grilled Halloumi Cheese

  • Makes 2 to 4 servings



  1. Preheat the grill, setting the burners to high. Oil the grate.
  2. Cut the cheese into 3/4-inch (2 cm) thick slices.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Grill the cheese for about 2 minutes on each side. Serve hot or warm.


Halloumi cheese can be found in some supermarkets and Middle Eastern grocery stores.

Some grilling cheeses are saltier than others. If necessary, they can be soaked to reduce the salt content. Simply place the cheese slices in a bowl, cover with cold water and refrigerate for 1 hour.
