Of course, we enjoy homemade versions, but it’s a common shortcut in the kitchen to choose a ready-to-cook broth, like those added to the RICARDO line of food products. Developed from family recipes and a certified Aliments préparés au Québec product, our RICARDO ready-to-cook broths are free of artificial colours and flavours. They’re also fat free and gluten free, meaning they can be part of a gluten-free diet.

Available in a 946 ml format, they are sold for $2.99 at IGA grocery stores across Quebec and can be found in the grocery aisle. Here are the three varieties:

Beef

Made from real beef, this delicious broth brilliantly enhances a variety of recipes, such as French onion soup, beef bourguignon or even a mushroom or wine sauce served with a roast or pasta.

Chicken

This flavourful broth is made with real chicken, combined with aromatics and left to simmer gently. It’s ideal for a classic chicken noodle soup, rice pilaf, risotto and various poultry dishes.

Vegetable

This comforting vegetarian broth is made with vegetables and natural ingredients. It’s a base for many meatless (and meat) dishes, such as couscous, lentil curry, ramen soup or minestrone.
