8 Recipes Inspired by Disney Classics

Looking for original ideas that the kids will enjoy during March Break? We’ve gathered a selection of recipes inspired by Disney’s greatest classics. We invite kids both young and old to lend a hand in cooking these enchanting dishes from their favourite movies. From spaghetti with meatballs like in Lady and the Tramp to a candy apple inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, let’s bring the magic of Disney home for a meal!

1. Cinderella: Pumpkin Crème Brûlée

Abracadabra! Here’s a recipe that’ll transform mini pumpkins into delicious crème brûlée. Use your whisk as a magic wand to prepare a cream base consisting of pumpkin purée, sugar, egg yolks and spices. Once the custard is firm and cooled, all that’s left is to caramelize and enjoy...before the stroke of midnight!

2. Ratatouille: Ratatouille (The Best)

For a bit of fun in the kitchen, get the kids to play chef like the friendly Rémy in the movie Ratatouille. It’s the perfect opportunity to show them how to safely use a knife. With your help, they can practise dicing eggplants, peppers and zucchini to prepare the absolute best ratatouille.

3. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Red Candy Apples

This beautifully shiny red apple has everything to make children envious. For this recipe, we chose the honeycrisp variety, which is both crunchy and sweet. Dip each apple in a concoction made of water, sugar and corn syrup tinted with red food colouring. Much like Snow White, it’ll be impossible to resist biting into this tempting treat.

4. Lady and the Tramp: Spaghetti with a Giant Meatball

How do you make a plate of spaghetti as memorable as the one enjoyed under the stars in the alley behind an Italian restaurant by the two leading dogs in the film? By serving it with a giant meatball, of course! For particularly tender meatballs, opt for Japanese panko breadcrumbs instead of the regular kind. Enhance the flavour by adding garlic, fennel seeds and chili flakes to the ground meat.

5. Winnie the Pooh: Honey Sticky Buns

These tasty buns are a wonderful baking project to tackle as a family during the week off. This recipe features Winnie the Pooh’s most favourite ingredient ever: honey! It’s not only added to the soft and pillowy dough with butter and cinnamon, but also included in the icing sugar glaze.

6. Raya and the Last Dragon: Coconut Milk and Shrimp Soup

Here’s the soup that will give children the same strength as Raya the warrior princess, to face their day with confidence and a full belly. The broth is flavoured with lemongrass, lime zest and ginger, whose tanginess is softened thanks to the coconut milk. Then add tomatoes, shrimp, Thai basil and pineapple chunks for a hearty soup that’ll take your taste buds on an adventure!

7. The Princess and the Frog: Doughnuts

What kid doesn’t love a good doughnut? These, inspired by Tiana’s famous beignets, are so delicious that it’s wise to hide a few if you don’t want them to disappear too quickly! Dip the balls of sweet dough in hot oil in the fryer until golden brown, and when they come out, sprinkle them generously with icing sugar.

8. Alice in Wonderland: Tea Sandwiches

Host a fun tea party just like the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland by breaking out your best tableware and serving tiny sandwiches with various fillings. Chicken, smoked trout, cucumbers, tomatoes or roast beef; there’s something for everyone. A simple idea for when you’re hosting brunch.
