There are three things you need to look out for when selecting a pineapple:
1. The colour
Take a look at the exterior shell. If it is mostly green, then it is not yet ripe. When it has a wonderful golden yellow hue, then you know that it’ll be sweet and ripe!
2. The leaves
Next, take a look at its leaves. If they’re green and vibrant, it’s usually a good sign. However, grab a leaf between your fingers and give it a gentle pull. If it comes out easily without any resistance, this means that it’s ready to be consumed.
3. The scent
Finally, don’t hesitate to bring the pineapple close to your face and give it a good sniff! If you don’t smell anything, that means the pineapple is unripe. A ripe pineapple will always smell sweet and fruity.
